Never Give Out Your Password. Not even to your boyfriend, your best friend, or your dog. It’s just a disaster waiting to happen.
Protect Your Personal Info. Don’t give out your real name, phone number, address, or any other info that would make it easy to find you offline. And if somebody asks for your mother’s maiden name… they’re up to something.
Censor Yourself. Don’t post anything you wouldn’t want your grandma to read or a future employer to see… they just might be looking.
Don’t be an Internet Bully. So what if you think someone’s opinion is wrong about a certain topic – there’s no need to insult or harass them. Just agree to disagree, then move on.
Watch Out for Phishing. Some comments and websites try to get your private info without you even knowing it. Don’t click on links in comment streams from people that you don’t know. The link about hot singles in your area is really just a hook – don’t be a hungry fish!
Be a Good Citizen. Be sure to report any suicidal behavior, internet bullying or harassing, explicit content, or identity fraud you may see on this site or others. The online world is a community, and everyone needs to do their part to keep it safe.
